The Lymphomaniac Society is a 501(c)(3) organization. Our mission is simple: to help survivors and their caregiver in their cancer journey by offering a chance for rest and relaxation.
It costs approximately $1500 to provide one trip for a survivor and caregiver. This cost covers hotel room for two nights, meals, transportation, and extras when available. Extras may include a day spa package or admission to museums and other attractions.
Why We Do What We Do
I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma in May 2011. What was supposed to be an "easy" seven months of chemo and radiation, turned into six different chemo regimens, three and one-half months of radiation, and two transplants- one stem cell transplant using my own stem cells, and a second full bone marrow transplant using the marrow from an incredibly selfless stranger.
Following my first stem cell transplant, my husband and I were fortunate we could take a few days off to get away from everything: doctors, treatment, cancer. We could do anything during those days, or do nothing. Most days we sat in the hotel lobby, read books, and walked on the beach. The few days away healed us both body and soul. It was during this trip we thought, "All survivors and their caregiver should have an opportunity to get away for a couple of days to recuperate." It's been three years in the making, but we're finally able to make our dream of giving back a reality.
